Sayeh-Roshan (“chiaroscuro” in Persian), a recording that features contemporary compositions reflecting on how layered identities, such as Persian-Canadian, can enrich one’s perspective. Chiaroscuro, the interaction of light and shadow, is interpreted here as the interplay between competing ideas and perspectives, and between tradition and modernity. New works by Amir Eslami, Reza Vali, and Parisa Sabet are interwoven with traditional Iranian pieces for kamancheh and tombak, featuring guest musicians Behnoosh Behnamnia and Bamdad Fotouhi.
